
Getting Your XP600 Ink to Dry Faster (Without Killing Your Printhead)
If you’re working with an XP600, you already know the struggle of getting ink to dry quickly without accidentally cooking your equipment. That’s why we built these carbon fiber heat lamps. Instead of using those old-school quartz heaters, we went with a carbon fiber filament. It pumps out concentrated infrared (IR) radiation that hits the ink exactly where it needs to. It’s fast. Really fast. Because these lamps pack a lot of power into a tiny diameter, the ink flashes off almost instantly. You don’t have to sit around waiting for the machine to warm up for ages before you can actually start printing. You just flip the switch and get to work. We wrapped the carbon core in high-purity quartz. This isn’t just for looks—it lets the heat pass straight through the glass without getting trapped. Plus, carbon fiber handles the “on-off-on-off” cycle much better than tungsten. It doesn’t just snap or burn out when you’re cycling the power. And the best part? Most of the time, these are just drop-in replacements. We used standard connectors, so you aren’t spending your afternoon fighting with the wiring. A couple of things to keep in mind… Since these lamps put out a lot of heat in a small space, you’ve got to keep an eye on your airflow. If your cooling fans aren’t up to the task, the heat can build up around the carriage. That’s when things get messy—ink starts thickening and nozzles start clogging. Also, keep your power steady. Voltage spikes are the enemy of carbon filaments. I’d suggest using a stabilized power supply. It keeps the heat consistent across the whole lamp, which means no weird “cold spots” on your material and a perfectly even cure every time.
